First-Year Students

*************************************************

If you are applying directly from high school or have taken fewer than 12 transferable credits, you are considered a first-year student, for purposes of admission criteria.

Millersville University has rolling admission, which means we review applications throughout the year. Generally, students will hear from us within 4-6 weeks from the time the application is complete. You are encouraged to apply early in your senior year of high school.

Each year, Millersville University enrolls about 1,300 new freshmen. Our typical first-year student has achieved a solid B average in a college preparatory curriculum and has SAT or ACT scores that are above average. We will consider the competitiveness of your high school, the level of courses taken, and grade trends from year to year. We may ask for first quarter or mid-year grades from your senior year if they are needed to boost your chances for admission.

The materials required for admission as a first-year student are listed below:

  • Completed application with application fee (We strongly encourage you to apply online).
  • An official high school transcript sent directly from your guidance office to the Admissions Office.
  • Official SAT or ACT score reports.
  • Letters of reference and a personal statement are recommended, but not required. These may be very valuable for a candidate with borderline academic qualifications if they help establish other exceptional qualities.
