MILLERSVILLE UNIVERSITY FOOTBALL WINS HOME OPENER, 19-10, OVER LOCK HAVEN

September 15, 2007, Millersville, Pa. – The Millersville University football team was victorious in its home opener, 19-10, against Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) cross-over Lock Haven on Saturday afternoon at Chryst Field at Biemesderfer Stadium.

Millersville (1-2) was led by running back Brad Lantz's (so. Towanda/Towanda) 150 yards on 36 carries. He was also the leading receiver with three catches for 23 yards. Quarterback Jamal Smith (fr. Camp Hill/Trinity) added 66 yards with his feet. The Marauders totaled 213 yards of offense on the ground. Defensively, linebacker Matt Buck (sr. Montgomery/Montgomery Area) was the top tackler with 10. He had two sacks and forced a fumble on the game's final play. Defensive back Andrew Pugh (sr. Hollidaysburg/Hollidaysburg) blocked a punt and returned it for a score. Defensive end Jarrod Linn (jr. Gettysburg/Gettysburg Area) recovered a fumble for a touchdown.

Lock Haven (0-3) got 58 yards from quarterback Ilio DiPaolo on the ground in the first half. Through the air, DiPaolo was 5 of 10 for 43 yards. Quarterback Tyler Golden was 6 of 14 for 80 yards in the second half. Wide receiver Chris Hawkins was the top receiver with seven grabs for 68 yards. The Bald Eagles defense was led by linebackers Corey Gildea and Adam Andrasko with 12 and 10 tackles, respectively. Defensive back Kevin Raymond recorded an interception.

Millersville took a 7-0 lead thanks to its special teams. Pugh blocked the Lock Haven punt and then scampered 25 yards for the score with 3:39 left in the first. The Bald Eagles took advantage of a fumble in Marauders' territory and turned it into three points. Kicker Marc Domonkos connected on a 25-yard field goal with 3:32 left in the half to cut the Marauder lead to 7-3.

The Marauders regained its touchdown advantage (10-7) with a John Banzhof (so. Lancaster/McCaskey) 34-yard field goal with 2:18 to go in the third. Banzhof added his second field goal in the fourth quarter, a 40-yarder, to put Millersville up 13-3 with 10:33 to go. Lock Haven answered with a 10-play, 73-yard drive ending with a two-yard touchdown run by running back Ibrahim Smith with 7:14 on the clock. Lock Haven had one last chance to win the game, but Buck forced a fumble by Golden on the last play. Linn picked it up and went 33 yards for the score.

Millersville will look to get back to .500 on Saturday, September 22 with a 1 p.m. game at Indiana (Pa.)
