The Color Effects of Chemicals on Copper

The color effects of chemicals on copper is an independent study on how different chemical solutions (patinas) affect the surface of a solid copper sheet.  Various patinas will be applied to copper samples and the chemical structures produced by the patinas will be analyzed using Raman, FTIR, and microscopy.  The main objectives are to produce a color palate of various patinas, understand the nature of the chemical structures being produced, and eventually be able to create a painting by applying chemicals to a sheet of copper.
