MSEM Frequently Asked Questions
- Is this program essentially a high-tech independent study?
No, it is very much like the classroom, except you, the other students and your professor(s) interact in a virtual environment. Some of our faculty members teach via a virtual classroom for live interaction each week. Other faculty members teach via a virtual discussion board. In either approach, you prepare for class like bricks-and-mortar classes, you may view slides and videos outside of class, but you interact with the other students and the professor to facilitate learning.
- When is the application deadline?
February 1 for the following Fall Semester. However, applications will be accepted until the next cohort is completed, e.g., June 1.
- Is there a minimum GPA required?
No, the entire applicant's package is reviewed. Higher, versus lower, GPA is desirable of course.
- Is there a minimum GRE/MAT score required?
No, the entire applicant's package is reviewed.
- Must I work in an emergency management related job in order to apply?
We are seeking to serve a student population that has experience either in emergency management (occupation or volunteer) OR a related occupation, which may be a wide variety of occupations. If you are uncertain please contact us by email (hfischer@millersville.edu) or telephone (717.872.3568). We urge you to apply.
