As you consider career choices, we would like you to think seriously about a new program here at MU that is offered jointly with West Chester University located near Philadelphia. What this means for you is that you can earn 2 degrees from 2 schools in 4 years (one degree from MU and one degree from WCU). More importantly, you will only need to study at the West Chester campus the summer of your sophomore year. The program is called the Dual Degree Program, and you will receive a bachelor’s degree in Biology/Pre-Athletic Training from Millersville and another bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training from West Chester, both at the same time. You will learn all your hands-on skills under the guidance of our excellent MU Certified Athletic Trainers and get to work directly with the Marauder athletic teams, both men and women. This is a popular program, and therefore, enrollment is limited based on your prior academic achievement. In other words, you would need to get at least a 1070 on the SAT for consideration. Students who are unsure about this career choice should consider shadowing a Certified Athletic Trainer, perhaps even volunteering in the MU athletic training room to see if this would be a good fit for you. Interested? The first step is to apply to Millersville University. Students admitted to the University and who meet the program eligibility requirements will receive an invitation to interview on campus. Interviews typically take place in mid-January, mid-February and early-April. For current MU students thinking of changing academic majors or for those who are undeclared, volunteering in the Athletic Training room is a great way to make sure you’re making the right choice. Unfortunately, there is only one cohort per year which begins in the fall semester. Reasons why you should consider the MU/WCU dual degree program.
