Distance Learning Overview
Distance Learning (DL) takes place when students and faculty members are separated from each other by location or time. DL courses usually have little or no requirement for "live" meetings--whether in a physical location or across the Internet. However, our blended courses may require face-to-face meetings throughout the semester--please check with the professor for more details. By offering flexible and convenient access to the course materials and assignments, DL is attractive to a wide variety of students.
Teacher - Student Interaction
A growing number of students want to attend classes that are independent of any constraints on time or place. MUOnline allows students to do that while also encouraging high levels of interaction with their professor and classmates. Collaborative projects and frequent communication ensures meaningful interaction with faculty members and peers.
Technologies
MUOnline uses several technologies to offer distance learning courses. The majority of our classes are facilitated by online courseware that can be accessed over the Internet. MUOnline's current course management system is Blackboard.
Summary
DL courses at Millersville University provide students with the ability to take courses from virtually any place and at any time. MUOnline courses make use of the Internet, communication tools, and video conferencing technologies--allowing students to conveniently fit studies into a busy lifestyle.
