Millersville University Police

Parking at Millersville University

Why must I have a permit?
Since there is limited parking at MU, parking must be regulated to ensure its fair, safe and orderly usage by persons permitted to use MU parking areas.

Do I need a permit if I only am taking one night class?
Yes. Special rates and permits are available.

When are parking regulations enforced?
Parking regulations are enforceable 24 hours all year. Special exceptions are noted in the complete parking regulations.

Why do the fines seem so high?
Fines and fees are set the by University and are used to offset the cost of maintaining the parking system, including lot maintenance, signage and equipment. Questions concerning the fees and use of funds should be directed to the Budget office.

Can I appeal a fine?
Yes, the department has an appeal process. Initial appeals must be filed at the department or online within 72 hours of receipt of the citation. Please remember that it is your responsibility to familiarize yourself with Pennsylvania state parking regulations as part of your Pennsylvania driving privileges when you received your driver's license. Appeals are considered based upon legality and published parking regulations.

What happens if I don't pay my tickets?
Unpaid tickets are subject to late fees. You will be reminded of your outstanding fines through printed notices in the mail monthly until the fines are resolved. You must understand that unpaid fines constitute a legal debt owed to the University. Thus, if fines remain unresolved, this results in a student being placed on "Hold" with the Registrar's office. This means that the student would be unable to register for future classes and can not receive grades or transcripts. Substantial unpaid fines and/or tickets result in the possibility of having your vehicle towed, booted, or a loss of parking privileges. PLEASE read and understand university parking regulations, and resolve your fines BEFORE these occur.

Where can I find more information?
Your student handbook has information on obtaining parking permits. Complete Millersville University parking regulations, and an appeal form are on this website.
