The Pennsylvania Office of Homeland Security offers many resources to its citizen to prevent, prepare for and cope with terroristic acts. One outstanding resource is Terrorism Awareness and Prevention (TAP) Training. The office of Homeland security, together with the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency, have recognized that Pennsylvania's first line of defense against terroristic acts will be its citizens. Thus the two offices, with assistance from the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency have trained and certified hundreds of police officers throughout the state as instructors in this important area. Certifying hundreds of law enforcement instructors ensures that Terrorism Awareness and Prevention (TAP) training is widely available to citizens in areas throughout the state.
Millersville University is proud to be able to offer this training both to the Millersville University Community, and to the neighboring community at large. TAP training is supported by the PCCD, PEMA and the Office of Homeland Security, and as such, is FREE of charge to all persons desiring to take the course. The course is designed to be audience-specific, so that if you have a group of EMS, Fire personnel or other first responders, there are modules and information specific for your group as well as general information for citizens. TAP enables you to understand the threat to our society, your part in protecting your community, and some commonsense measures you can take.
You can benefit from the course if you are:
