Introduction

The Millersville University Teamwork and Teamplay Ropes Challenge course provides a unique teaching environment, where diverse groups can experience varying levels of physical, mental, and/or emotional risks.

The Ropes Challenge Course is a series of activities designed for individual and group participation regardless of age, physical limitation or ability level. Participants must navigate cables and ropes either individually or in their group. The experience is often both physically and mentally challenging. The goal of the program is to concentrate on individual and group skill development by navigating a series of activities, which involve physical and emotional risk, and succeeding (or sometimes failing) within a supportive group atmosphere. The challenges presented by the ropes activities enhance communication skills, cooperation, interpersonal awareness, leadership skills, decision-making and trust-building.

About The Course

The Millersville University Teamwork and Teamplay Ropes Challenge Course consists of 10 high elements and 10 low elements. These non-traditional games and activities offer a different series of cables and ropes suspended in the air between 1 and 50 feet. The high elements are 30 feet in the air and focus on individual accomplishment with support from the team down on the ground. The low elements are 1 - 10 feet off the ground and require the group to work together to solve physical and mental challenges. The combination of these high and low elements provides an ideal opportunity to build teamwork within the group.

Themes To Choose From

The Millersville University Ropes Course is not a "one size fits all" teambuilding ropes course. We have developed a variety of programs to suit the specific needs of an organization. Our program selection provides you with a choice of workshops. These programs go beyond just teaching leadership skills, they strive to find, foster, and develop the skills you already have.

Triumph Over Challenge

Every group faces challenges. This program is designed to provide the group with challenges that they must overcome together. After activity discussion will focus on the upcoming challenges that they group is going to face and how they can work together to overcome those challenges in the most productive and efficient way.

Embracing Diversity

We are all different. We all think, react and behave in different ways. It is these differences that make us unique. Activities for this program are designed to get these differences out and then discuss how it is beneficial to use these differences rather than discourage them.

Adventure Programming

This program is all about adventure. The group will be doing a variety of different activities designed on having fun, learning about yourself and each other and participating in adventure activities. Adventure programming focuses more on the activities and less on the group interaction. Come prepared to have fun and enjoy the experience.

Getting Acquainted

Groups that are just coming together will benefit from this program. All activities will be centered around the group getting to know each other and especially remember names and faces. To start a group off on the right foot, it is extremely helpful to make sure that everyone knows everyone else.

Overcoming Communication Barriers

Communication issues can cripple a group or organization. Activities for this program will center on opening lines of communication between group members. The group will discuss barriers to communication and how the group can overcome those barriers and work together more effectively.

Deepening Faith

Christian faith depends on trust and discipline. Activities for this program are designed to help the group discover what faith is all about and how we can deepen this faith in our daily spiritual walk.

Large Group Experience

For groups over 25. This program begins with the entire group interacting in a variety of get to know you warm up activities and activities with webbing. Depending on the size of the group, the group will then separate into smaller groups which will do a few more name activities and proceed into problem solving activities. Themes for the small groups can be chosen from the above menu. Depending on the size of the group, it may not be possible to participate in high ropes activities. Groups over 40 participants will be restricted to low ropes activities only.
